The 2002 Cabernet/Shiraz (52% of the former and 48% of the latter) was aged in French oak for 10 months. Displaying a dense ruby/purple color, deep concentrated flavors (black fruits, loamy soil, and a hint of toast), as well as good weight and richness, it is a pure, surprisingly deep 2002 with a hint of chocolate in the finish. The approachable, dark ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet/Shiraz (76% of the former and 24% of the latter) displays exuberant cherry and blackberry fruit as well as crisp acidity in its soft, lush, straightforward personality. The 1999 Cabernet/Shiraz is a very good value. A blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Shiraz, it has light tannin, a dark ruby color, and sweet berry fruit presented in an uncomplicated, quaffable style ith no hard edges.
