De Loach produced seven Zinfandels in 1995, all of which merit considerable interest. They are powerful yet accessible Zinfandels with alcohols ranging from 15% to 17.5%. Remarkably, they possess the concentration and ripe fruit necessary to conceal the alcohol - at least for the next several years. The dark ruby-colored 1995 Zinfandel Barbieri Ranch (15% alcohol and produced from vines planted in 1905) is one of the least powerful wines. Made in a similar style to the regular cuvee, it reveals medium body, ripe fruit, attractive spice and purity, and 3-4 years of drinkability. The 1992 Zinfandel Barbieri Ranch is a soft, ripe, fat wine with aromas and flavors suggestive of black-cherries and raspberries. Deep, richly fruity, and velvety-textured, it is ideal for consuming over the next 5-6 years. De Loach has produced a bevy of delicious 1992 Zinfandels that surpass even the wonderful array of Zinfandels this winery produced in 1990 and 1991. All of the single vineyard Zins come from old vines. For example, the Barbieri Ranch is from a 23-acre vineyard planted in 1905, the Gambogi Ranch is from a 10-acre vineyard planted in 1909, the Papera Ranch is from an 18-acre vineyard planted in 1934, and the Peletti Ranch is from a vineyard planted in 1928.
