The 2019 Meursault Les Petits Charrons unwinds in the glass with notions of white flowers, orange oil, freshly baked bread, buttered popcorn and nashi pear. Medium to full-bodied, dainty and precise, it's bright and vibrant, with beautiful purity of fruit and a long, mouthwatering finish. It's the most ethereal Meursault in the range.

Another stunning success, the 2018 Meursault Les Petits Charrons delivers notes of citrus oil, white flowers, Anjou pear, blanched almonds and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, bright and incisive, it's concentrated and mouthwatering, with a fine-boned, racy profile. Ente describes this cuvée as "the least stereotypically Meursault of my range," and one can see why.

Tasted from bottle, the 2017 Meursault Les Petits Charrons is one of the racier, more tensile wines in the range, bursting with aromas of white peach and crisp green pear that are complemented by nuances of beeswax, almonds and hazelnuts. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with lovely depth at the core and mouthwatering underlying acids.

This was a fabulous vintage chez Ente, and from magnum the 2011 Meursault Les Petits Charrons is superb, bursting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of citrus zest, preserved lemon, wheat toast and pear, framed by a light touch of reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium-full, sapid and intense, with a deep core, succulent acids and terrific tension through the long, lingering finish. While this is drinking beautifully already, it has the structure and energy to develop for another decade at the very least.

The 2010 Meursault Les Petits Charrons is all about energy and focus. Today, it is a bit clenched, yet there is an inner sweetness that is quite appealing. It will be interesting to see where this goes over the next few years. Stylistically, the Petits Charrons is more overt and obvious than most of the other wines in the lineup. There is plenty of weight, but a little less finesse than the best wines, although that is admittedly splitting hairs at this level. Ente farms two parcels here; one planted in 1958, the second in 1992. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. (Not yet released) This is a stunning set of wines from Arnaud Ente. The 2010s stand out for their transparency, expressiveness and purity. Ente began bringing in his wines on September 15. Yields were down about 30% on average. Ente gave the 2010s 12 months in oak followed by 7-8 months in steel. The wines were all bottled in April 2012. There are a handful of more famous domaines in Meursault, but few that can equal the level of the stunning wines found at this small, family run estate that captures the essence of the Burgundian vigneron spirit.
