Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, mint, sweet citrus fruits, buttery pastry, fresh ginger and almonds, the 2020 Meursault Les Rougeots is medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny, with a textural attack that segues into a racy, concentrated mid-palate that's a touch broader-shouldered and more muscular than Coche's other communal-level bottlings this year. Seamless and complete, it concludes with a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Meursault Les Rougeots reveals notes of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, orange oil, fresh bread, almond paste and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's elegantly muscular, with terrific concentration, lively acids and chalky grip, concluding with a long, resonant finish. This is beautifully balanced and built to age.

The 2017 Meursault Les Rougeots is as usual more muscular and textural than the Chevalières. Exhibiting scents of pear, crisp white peach, hazelnuts and flowers, framed by a delicate touch of oak vanillin, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a deep and multidimensional core, excellent concentration and a bright spine of acidity. This is always a very age-worthy cuvée, and the 2017 will merit at least a decade to unwind in the cellar—even if it's deceptively approachable out of the gates.

Offering up notes of lime oil, tart Anjou pear, peach kernels and sesame that are delicately framed by a judicious touch of new oak, the 2016 Meursault Les Rougeots is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with more texture and a denser, more blocky profile than the other village wines in the cellar this year, displaying considerable extract and a long, stony finish. Rapha?l Coche notes that no one in his family can remember a time when Rougeots was so badly frosted, adding that neighboring Chevalières was entirely wiped out.

The 2014 Meursault Les Rougeot has a complex bouquet with upfront scents of hazelnut, wild fennel, orange blossom and minerals. The palate has a pleasing weight on the entry. It is laden with wet granite, bitter lemon and lemon curd notes, a splash of lime surfacing towards the very persistent and judiciously spiced, stem ginger-tinged finish. There is great salinity here and it keeps urging you back for another sip. It would not surprise me if it deserves a higher score with bottle age, hence the plus-sign adjacent to my score.
