The 2015 Bourgogne Rouge comes from vines located in Volnay and Chassagne, and winemaker Celine Fontaine told me that the fruit was concentrated by the warmth in this vintage. It has a light earthy bouquet that should gain more fruité once the wine is in bottle. The palate is charming: light but pure with a keen thread of acidity, with a pleasant piquancy on the finish.

The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge was taken from a two-year-old barrel and had not been racked. There is plenty of juicy ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit on the nose, whilst the palate is nice and punchy with black cherries and blueberry notes, surprisingly structured on the chalky-textured finish. This should be very agreeable, very classic in style once in bottle.
