The 2005 "Raches Galanou" is a 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc aged in French oak for 18 months. It is a single vineyard wine - the Raches Galanou vineyard. Bright and elegant, with little mid-palate concentration, perhaps thinning with age, it is funky on the nose, green and laced with herbaceous nuances. It is pleasant enough once past the nose, if you don't mind some vegetal notes, but it has too little mid-palate concentration. That said, there were times when I rather liked this graceful and lively wine, and it evolved fairly well. How you feel about "green" may determine how much you like it. Drink now-2014.
