The 2014 Rh?ne By Roger Sabon C?tes du Rh?ne checks in as a fruity, Proven?al, medium-bodied and charming blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. It’s ready to go and is a perfect mid-week drinker.

The 2013 Rhone by Roger Sabon Cotes du Rhone is a ripe, creamy modern-styled blend of 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Cinsault. Vanilla bean, kirsch, blackberry and spice all show in this medium-bodied, forward, delicious effort that's best consumed over the coming few years.

Drink it over the coming couple of years. Drink now-2016. A fantastic estate that covers close to 44 acres throughout the appellation, Domaine Roger Sabon was created by Roger Sabon in 1952. The estate was taken over by Roger’s sons (Jean-Jacques, Denis and Gilbert) in 1976, and since 2001, the wines are made by Didier Negron, who is Jean-Jacques’ stepson. The estate produces upward of four red Chateauneufs in a given vintage and one white. In addition, they release a solid Cotes du Rhone and Lirac. A new packaging concept has been utilized for the 2010 Cotes du Rhone called Rhone by Roger Sabon. This cuvee reveals classic Provencal notes of lavender, garrigue, kirsch and a hint of sandy, loamy soil in the background. Good concentration and purity along with attractive elegance suggest this wine should be drunk over the next several years. This estate has been at the top of its game for many years and any partisan of Rhone Valley wines (especially the southern Rhone) who has not yet tried a wine from Domaine Roger Sabon should make every effort to do so. They produce four separate Chateauneuf du Pape cuvees and have hit home runs in both 2009 and 2010, the finest back-to-back vintages I have ever tasted from this 42-acre estate run by the large Sabon family, in this case, Jean-Jacques, Julien, Gilbert and Denis. They own 15 parcels spread throughout the appellation, most of them concentrated in the western and eastern sectors north of the village. The brilliant 2009s are among the finest of the vintage.
