For the record, Pride's 2021 Viognier is a 72-28 blend of Sonoma and Napa-grown fruit from this property that straddles the county line atop Spring Mountain. Floral and peppery on the nose, it also boasts scents of apricot and pear in a nicely balanced expression of varietal character. Medium to full-bodied, it's not a huge, viscous example of Viognier but one that balances ripeness and acidity on a fine edge, leaving behind lingering citrus notes on the finish.

The 2020 Viognier opens with notes of peach blossoms, fresh Bosc pears and applesauce, plus hints of fennel seed, allspice and baking bread. The medium to full-bodied palate has a compelling oiliness to the texture with loads of spiced apples and pear flavors, lifted by a zippy line of freshness, finishing long and savory. 1,084 cases were made.

The 2019 Viognier is a little youthfully mute to begin, soon unfurling to offer glimpses at fresh Bosc pears, ripe yellow apples and honey-drizzled white peaches with hints of lemongrass and allspice. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a decadently creamy texture with a seamless backbone of freshness lifting all the spiced apples and pears flavors to a long finish.

The 2018 Viognier comes from vines planted in 1993 and was made without new oak or malolactic. It sings of honey drizzled white peaches, poached pears and lychees with nuances of spice cake, coriander seed, paraffin wax and fresh hay. Medium to full-bodied, it has compelling freshness and a savory edge in the mouth, eventually giving way to the exuberant stone fruit and spicy flavors, finishing long with a refreshing kick. 1,249 cases produced.

The 2017 Viognier leaps from the glass with gregarious scents of honey drizzled apricots, poached pears, star anise, wilted roses and preserved orange peel with a waft of jasmine. Full-bodied with a sensuously oily texture and laden with stone fruit and perfumed layers, it has a zippy line of freshness and a long aniseed laced finish. 1147 cases were made.
