The 2018 Chardonnay Broken Road Vineyard was aged for 10 months in French oak, 55% new. It explodes from the glass with notes of fresh grapefruit, honeydew melon and pear tart with hints of honeysuckle and almond croissant. Medium to full-bodied with a pleasant oiliness to the texture and a lively backbone, it finishes on a nutty note. 300 cases were made.

The 2017 Chardonnay Broken Road Vineyard opens with subtle, graceful apricot, green guava and fresh lemon scents plus hints of chalk dust, marzipan and lightly browned toast. Medium-bodied, the palate has beautiful poise and compelling intensity with loads of citrus and mineral layers and a nuttiness to the finish. 353 cases produced.

Fermented and aged for 11 months in French oak (44% new), the 2016 Chardonnay Broken Road Vineyard delivers ripe apricots, pineapple paste, apple pie and allspice scents with hints of honeycomb and toasted almonds. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs a wallop of intense flavors with layer upon layer of tropical fruit and spices, complemented by a creamy texture and finishing long and toasty. 403 cases produced.

The 2015 Chardonnay Broken Road Vineyard gives a gorgeous perfume of honeysuckle and peach blossoms with a core of apricots, cashews, baking bread and yeast extract. Medium-bodied, the palate reveals a satiny texture with savory nut and toasty layers complimenting the understated stone fruit, finishing on a yeasty note. 400 cases were produced.

The 2014 Chardonnay Broken Road (1800-foot elevation) is made from Dijon clones and displays oodles of tropical fruit such as orange, pineapple and apricot marmalade in a deep, rich, crisp, lusty and dramatic style. It is one of the more flamboyant of these Chardonnays out of the gate, and should drink well for up to a decade as well.
