The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc "Milia" was sourced from a vineyard 1,000 meters above sea level and aged in oak for 4 months. You will hardly notice the oak, which the winemaker emphasizes was a light toast oak. It is a lovely Sauvignon Blanc, crisp and light, herbaceous, grassy and vivacious, perfectly balanced and invigorating. Despite its relatively light body, it has persistence and never seems to fade. There is some grip on the finish, too. The oak never harms the aromatics and exuberant personality here. This is a very fine deal, simply lovely. While this is in very good shape, and might well hold longer than I think, I'd still drink it now and as young as possible while it is exuberant and fresh. NOTE: I'm told this wine is most typically available in restaurants (both in Athens and the USA, generally in the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia area) due to its small production. Although the new vintage is coming soon, I've been advised that the importer reordered this 2009 and it is still current in the marketplace. There were 5,000 bottles produced. Drink now-2013. The name Tetramythos comes from the region where the winery has its vineyards. In turn, it is named after the wild pear tree in the region.Importer: Dionysos Imports, Manassas, VA; tel. (703) 392-7073
