The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous Le Puits reveals pretty aromas of white flowers, almond paste and crisp green apple. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegant and pure, with a lovely line of acidity and a bright, precise finish.

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous Le Puits offers up aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus fruit and blanched almonds. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, with a stony but open-knit profile. It's a charming wine that doesn't quite hit the heights of Verget's best Maconnais cuvées.

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous Le Puits, which comes from Blagny at a high elevation, was matured in 25% new oak with regular batonnage. It has a forward, generous and quite creamy bouquet that just needs to develop greater mineral expression, more tension. The palate is well balanced and smooth on the entry, a little puppy fat here, whilst the finish needs time to absorb the oak. Give this a year in bottle.
