The 2020 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé wafts from the glass with scents of peach and other stone fruits mingled with pear and buttery pastry. Medium to full-bodied, ample and open-knit, it's a pretty, fleshy wine that includes some later press fractions this year.

Aromas of citrus oil, white flowers and pastry cream introduce the 2019 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé, a medium to full-bodied, bright and supple wine that's elegant and charming, concluding with a nicely defined finish. I suspect that it will gain in depth with a little bottle age and make this score seem conservative.

The 2018 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé was entirely vinified in barrels this year, as the winery didn't have sufficient space to ferment any wine in tank, so it's a touch woodier than usual, offering up aromas of honeyed orchard fruit, spices and praline. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, powerful and structured, with lively acids and an oak-inflected finish.

The 2017 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé is showing well, revealing notes of citrus zest, orange blossom and petrol. On the palate, it's full-bodied, glossy and concentrated, with chewy extract but remaining fine-boned, elegantly balanced, concluding with a fragrant finish.

The 2016 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé was struck hard by hail, yielding a mere 10 hectoliters per hectare, so it's atypically rich and concentrated on the palate, with aromas of apricots, peaches and honeyed citrus. It's missing some cut and length, however.
