The fruit-driven 2001 Chianti Colli Senesi is a solid, professional effort, with a warmly alcoholic nose of plums, tobacco, and underbrush, and a palate whose continuity and persistence is made more substantial by the attractive, fine-grained tannins. Drink: 2005-2008.
Poggio Salvi, not to be confused with the estate of the same name at Montalcino, is located to the southwest of Siena in an underdeveloped area for better wine.
