The 2008 RESERVA “CONDE DE VIMIOSO” seemed quite disjointed on arrival, but I saw some potential in it. It was just overwhelmed by oak, a collection of parts, not a whole. It is worth another look, with more time to rest. It is startling how well it has come around with a couple of extra months. The oak is far better integrated already, the backbone and steely notes are more obvious, but the fruit is also more open and flavorful, far more evolved as well. A bit compact and quite elegant in the mid-palate, it is not particularly fleshy. It is a pleasure to drink overall. Drink now-2018.Importers: Vinum Importing, Redmond, WA; tel.
