The 2010 Padrone (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) boasts a blockbuster nose of blackberries, blueberries, camphor and acacia flowers. Sweet tannins and a wonderful sucrosity and ripeness on the palate conceal some serious structure. This pure, long, full, rich wine possesses lots of black fruits as well as an impressive finish that lasts nearly 45 seconds. It should be consumed over the next 15-20 years.

Medium bodied, with a smoke, licorice and black raspberry personality, this soft wine ends with dark chocolate covered cherries. Give it a year or two for the tannins to soften.

The 2010 Padrone (Cabernet Sauvignon) comes across as super-ripe and almost jammy, at least judging by this barrel sample. It is a big, voluptuous wine with tons of inner perfume and expressive dark red raspberry jam, smoke, licorice and tar. There is plenty of energy in the glass, but I don’t find the 2010 Padrone meaningfully more complex or interesting than the Estate in this vintage. This is a bit on the heavy side today. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. This is a strong set of wines from Signorello. Pierre Birebent is the winemaker. Luc Morlet consults on the wines as of 2010. I also tasted the 2008 reds for reference, and quality is definitely on the rise since those wines were made. Padrone is a selection of the estate’s best barrels, but the best barrels don’t always equate to a significantly better wine, especially when one takes into account the difference in price.

This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in the winery's estate vineyard, on the east side of Napa Valley. It's awesomely rich and ripe, delivering heady blackberry, blueberry, cassis liqueur, cola and new oak flavors that are as long in the finish as they are deep. With thick tannins, it's clearly a wine you need to cellar. Drink 2016–2020 and beyond.
