The 2009 Corton-Clos Rognets impresses for its classy, understated personality. Clean saline notes frame the fruit nicely through to the finish, where a final blast of black fruit informs the finish. Today the Clos Rognets appears to holding back a lot of its potential. I would not be surprised to see the wine fill out nicely with bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. Jean-Nicolas Meo began harvesting on September 12. He did 17-18 days of cuvaison and did one racking before the wines were prepared for bottling. I was not able to taste a handful of wines that were racked just before my visit, including the Cros Parantoux. Evoking plum and blackberry, this dark red shows somber earth notes as well. Rich, with smoke, licorice and spice tones on the lingering finish. The tannins are buried in the rich texture, and this stays fresh. Best from 2015 through 2035. 4 cases imported. –BS
