Prieur's superb Meursault Perrieres exhibits floral and honeyed pear aromas and possesses a full-bodied, complex, rich, and velvety-textured character. Layers of rock dust, white flowers, gravel, and scrumptious oak notes (from 100% new oak barrels) can be discerned in its delicious, broad, and focused flavor profile. This fresh, profound, and magnificently crafted wine will be at its best between 2002 and 2007. The score, noted on a range and in parentheses, indicates that the wine was tasted from barrel. I was extremely impressed with Prieur's three top wines, the Meursault Perrieres, Corton-Charlemagne, and Montrachet, which are at a level only attained by the very best Burgundian estates.
