The 1999 Chardonnay Cuvee Cathleen is phenomenal. It is rich, mineral-dominated, and full, with an unctuous flavor profile, great purity, and stunning layers that unfold on the palate, it does not taste heavy or over the top. That's the brilliance of Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. This profound Chardonnay rivals the greatest Burgundy grand crus. If you don't believe me, put it in a blind tasting, as I have done many times. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Steve Kistler and his sidekick, Mark Bixler, feel that the key to making top quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 2000 (an extremely cold year with higher acids) was patience.
