Cecchi, a large negociant house which has been operating in Chianti Classico for over a century, is best known for its medium-priced, volume-oriented wines. But the selections of real interest have shown an undeniable improvement over the past decade, as evidenced by the 2001 Chianti Classico Riserva Famiglia which combines a light spiciness with notes of sweet Mediterranean herbs in a medium-bodied format of good energy, continuity, and length.
