The 2014 Vega Sindoa Merlot was surprisingly tasty, with more body and depth than I would have thought for a wine not only at $9, but at twice that price. Coming from their nearly 58 acres of Merlot vineyards planted in clay, this wine is another unoaked, stainless-steel fermented and aged wine that shows plenty of dark berry fruit, a nice hint of spice and earth, but no herbaceousness or angularity. The wine is plump, lush and ideal for drinking over the next 1-2 years. It is amazing what $9 can get.
