Medium to full-bodied, the wine is chewy with a firm mouthfeel that remains persistent through the mid-palate while showing elements of graphite, pencil shavings and blackberry skin. Featuring artwork from Tony Angell on the front label, the 2017 Artist Series Red Wine is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Displaying a deep ruby core and purple-red highlights, the wine opens with lush, dusty red and black fruits, with hints of bitter dark chocolate, cedar, plum skin and blackberry tones. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is rich and generous, offering a balanced structure with lifting tannins and showcasing elements of dried currant and cassis, nuances of pencil shavings and dried sage and ending with a long, lingering finish.

A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec, the 2016 Artist Series Red Wine opens to a core of dark fruit on the nose, with blackberry, dark cherry and damson fruit aromas wafting from the glass alongside elegant oak spices and velvety purple flowers. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, the wine grows in complexity with a structured core of black fruit that becomes more tart across the mid-palate and lingers with a firm yet elegant spice and a grippy, tannic edge. Ending with a tight focus on the long and balanced finish, this wine will age beautifully over the next decade. 3,886 cases were made.

The 2015 Artist Series Red Wine is a success, wafting from the glass with a generous bouquet of ripe cassis, blackberries, loamy soil and subtle, nutty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, youthfully chewy and open-knit, but its finish is somewhat fleeting. It should gain some depth and dimension with a bit of bottle age, but it lacks a bit of concentration and intensity in comparison with some other recent vintages.
