Dense and concentrated, the 2019 Saint Peray Fleur de Crussol is a full-bodied, distilled-down version of Saint-Péray from 80-year-old vines, with intense pear, melon and citrus shadings, plus hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings. Richly textural, it finishes on notes of citrus zest and brine. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

Similar in quality and style to the bottled 2017, the 2018 Saint Peray Fleur de Crussol boasts layers of ripe, honeyed peach and pineapple flavors. It's full-bodied, round and fleshy, with a rich, silky, texture-laden finish underscored by hints of citrus rind. From 80-year-old Marsanne vines, it's another beauty.

Bottled in April 2019 after 17 months in 20% new oak, the 2017 Saint Peray Fleur de Crussol shows outstanding freshness and energy. It's rich as always, full-bodied and bursting with honeyed peach and pineapple flavors framed by obvious toast, with layers of textural interest on the palate and extending through the lengthy finish. It's certainly one of the top wines of the appellation this year.

Always among the top Saint Perays, this year the 2016 Saint Peray Fleur de Crussol was edged out by its stablemate. It's still a classic, boasting lovely aromas of toasted marshmallow, ripe melon and tangerine. Medium to full-bodied, this barrel-fermented Marsanne shows wonderful structure, focused richness and a long, long finish. Elegant and fine, it may outlive its flashier sibling but should still be consumed over the next 4-5 years.
