Cropped at just 17 hectoliters per hectare and including lieux-dits (including Les Narvaux and Pelans) usually bottled separately, the 2016 Meursault Village has a brisk, quite vivacious bouquet with citrus fruit, yellow flowers and a subtle marine scent. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed entry, fresh acidity, harmonious with a lovely, lilting, white peach and stem ginger-tinged finish. This is a fine little (in quantity!) Meursault from Fran?ois Mikulski.

The 2015 Meursault Village reveals an inviting bouquet of pear, praline, apple and dried flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent and round, with chalky grip on the finish but an open-knit core. This is an attractive proposition for near-term consumption.

The 2014 Meursault Village represents a step up from the 2014 Bourgogne Blanc, offering attractive citrus, hazelnut and smoky scents that define it as Meursault and nothing else. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with hints of dried orange peel and lemon, though the oak just needs to muster a little more precision to match the pedigree of the aromatics. Give it a year or two in bottle.

The 2013 Meursault Village has an attractive and vibrant, lightly spiced bouquet that soars from the glass with fine delineation. The palate is well balanced, rounded in the mouth with hints of tangerine and orange zest, simple but showing good persistence. This is a commendable Meursault to enjoy over several years.

There is just one 2012 Meursault Village includes the Les Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux, Les Pelles-Dessus. Meix Chavaux, Le Limosin and Moulin Landin (the Limosin and Meix Chavaux usually bottled separately.) It has a light grapefruit and dried flower petal scented bouquet that opens nicely once a little gas dissipates. The palate is well-balanced with clean citrus fruits on the entry that dovetail into a vibrant, tropical-tinged finish that shows good acidity. This has fine potential after bottling. I have been visiting Francois Mikulski for a number of years. This is a reliable address for Meursault, although like numerous others his crops were depleted in 2012, resulting in the absence of some of this cuvees including some of his Meursault village crus that were blended together. Hail was also significant, reducing Volnay Santenots down to a negligible eight hectoliters per hectare. I tasted his wines from pre-blended bottles that were as close to the final blend as Francois could estimate.
