This 2020 Shiraz St Jakobi is pert and frisky and plump and creamy, all at once. The acid feels a little lively for the concentrated fruit, but it certainly freshens things up. The fruit is streamlined and red, very pretty, and it captures the essence of the Barossa.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Shiraz St Jakobi gives an earthy nose of fertile loam, tree bark and dried leaves over a core of baked blackberries and preserved plums with a touch of licorice. Full-bodied with tons of black fruit preserves and earthy flavors, the muscular fruit has a great foundation of firm, chewy tannins and just enough acidity, finishing with very good length.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 St. Jakobi Shiraz begins with quite a meaty and earthy nose before opening up to a core of warm blackberries and blueberries with a hint of anise. It opens with lovely warm blueberry and aniseed notes laced with coffee, Indian spices, tree bark and lavender. Big, full-bodied and rich, it retains crisp acidity, a medium-firm level of rounded tannins before finishing opulent and long. Approachable now, drink it to 2022+.
