The Tenuta Rapitalà 2018 Sicilia Syrah Nadir is soft and ripe with plenty of black fruit and sweetness at its core. On top of ripe prune and blackberry preserves, the wine offers spicy notes of clove, cured bacon and barbecue smoke. Its easy softness comes thanks to the Sicilian sunshine and the spicy oak. Serve it with a beef stew with plenty of potatoes to absorb that 15% alcohol punch. Some 9,000 bottles were made, and Nadir offers great value.

The 2017 Sicilia Syrah Nadir is a softly textured and contoured expression that marries the sunshine of Sicily with the inner exuberance of the Syrah grape. That extra vintage heat works well, because this grape can handle it. You don't get any jammy aromas, but you do get plenty of succulence and soft richness instead. Try this with roasted pork with caramelized onions.

This is a great vintage of this fruit-forward value wine. The 2014 Sicilia Syrah Nadir possesses a thick inner core that consists of dark fruit and ripe flavors. Prune, dark plum and dried blackberries merge together with intensity. There is a touch of bittersweet cherry on the close. Only 20% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in oak and the rest is aged in stainless steel.

The 2007 Syrah Nadir shows some of the wilder qualities of this grape in its dark fruit, earthiness and spices. This mid-weight red offers good balance, although some rough edges remain.
