The 2012 Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a tightly wound, lime leaf-scented bouquet with attractive, subtle, tropical aromas lingering underneath. The palate is livelier than the aromatics with crisp citrus fruit on the entry that marries well with the 40% new oak. It is focused and poised, long on the finish but will need several years in bottle to develop more nuances.
