The 2007 TINTO VALE DO BOMFIM (DOW) is a bit different this year than last-14.5% alcohol and heavy on Tinta Barroca (58%). It also blends in Tinta Roriz (15%), Touriga Nacional (14%), Tinta Amarela (5%) and Tinto Cao (8%). This bottling has always been a good source for easy drinking value, and it is again this year. Fruity but bright, tasty but elegant, with some dark chocolate notes, this has little mid-palate concentration, but tons of charm and just a little grip on the finish. Drink it on the younger and fresher side for best results. The finish does fade fast, although it is respectable in its modest price range.
