There are a whopping 45,000 cases of the 1999 Vitiano, a blend of 34% Sangiovese, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 33% Merlot, all aged in French oak, and bottled with neither fining nor filtration. An amazing wine for the price, it must be tasted to be believed. There is only one bottling, so it is not a situation where various lots appear at different times. Dense ruby-colored, with a sweet nose of strawberry jam, black cherries, and spice, this nicely layered, beautifully pure, medium-bodied, supple wine possesses glorious fruit, purity, and intensity.
