The 1991 Du Pratt Vineyard Chardonnay reveals high, crisp acidity, as well as wonderful levels of fruit, a medium to full-bodied texture, and that enticing orange, ripe apple, tangerine-like character that is often found in top white burgundies. The oak appears more restrained than in the other offerings, although none of these wines is excessively woody.Formerly the winemaker at Kendall-Jackson, Jed Steele is to be highly commended for his debut releases, all brilliant examples of California Chardonnay. All of these wines possess great fruit, excellent to outstanding richness, and superb purity and focus.
