The 2009 Botrytis Semillon has moderately intense aromas of lemon curd, orange marmalade, acacia honey and a pleasant muskiness. Very crisp, silky and sweet in the mouth (128 grams per liter of residual sugar), it has nice nervy / youthful intensity to counter the richness. The finish is long. Delicious now, this wine has some potential to evolve and should cellar to 2017+. Peter Lehman’s 2007 Botrytis Semillon, sourced from a single vineyard, saw 20% of the wine fermented and aged for 8 months in 20% new French hogsheads with the balance in stainless steel. With 30% of the wine botrytis infected, the wine’s peach-fruit dominated flavors and aromas are also marked by honey and spice notes.
