The 1993 Merlot Toro Desiderio exhibits copious, nearly excessive amounts of toasty new oak in its aromatic profile. The wine also possesses sweet currant and black-cherry fruit. In the mouth, the oak is less intrusive, with the fruit giving this wine an excellent texture, and a savory palate feel that is enhanced by clean winemaking, and earlier enough bottling to preserve the wine's freshness.
