The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon comes exclusively from 1970 plantings off the Wallcliff vineyard (named after the sub-region). It gives aromas of warm cassis, some menthol, pencil shavings, espresso, bay leaf and a subtle smokiness. The concentrated palate is wonderfully structured with a medium to high level of grainy tannins. It has a long, earthy finish. Beginning to drink now it should continue to evolve and cellar to 2019.
